This week’s Monument Coach Release is the current release for parliamentary debaters.
Parliamentary Debate (aka “Parli”) is a debate format offered by several leagues, consisting of teams that receive the resolution minutes before they debate. Monument Member downloads include a model resolution and a sample tournament of resolutions to practice. The download contains hyperlinks to websites to help strengthen debaters’ understanding of the topics introduced.
In this release author Rachel Donka explores soft power (as opposed to “hard” power). This week’s topics of debate include soft power and hard power, epistemology and truth, immigration reform, the second amendment, Venezuelan refugees, and more. All of these topics are included in resolutions that debaters can use to kick off debates in clubs, scrimmages, and even tournaments.
NOTE: This release may be distributed to non-members without violating copyright. The only member requirement is the coach. Use as you wish to enhance your class and spur young people on toward speech and debate competition.
