About "Michael Cohen"
Michael Cohen, former attorney to President Trump, plead guilty to eight legal violations. Cohen is estimated to have hid $4 million from the IRS, in addition to committing two campaign finance violations. According to Federal Prosecutors, Cohen made $284,000 in payments to two women to secure their silence regarding alleged affairs with President Trump. Prosecutors are claiming that these are violations of campaign finance because the payments kept the scandal from breaking, thus “influencing” the election. If convicted, Cohen could serve 4 to 5 years in prison for these offences.
Many have questioned how this will impact President Trump’s presidency. Some have argued that this scandal, like many others, will not impair the President’s standing with the voters or abilities in office. On the flip side, some have claimed that this could lead to impeachment, especially if democrats gain control of the House of Representatives in November’s election. It is unclear how the Justice Department and other governmental officials will react to the conviction of Cohen, but the outcome could be a significant influence in politics in the short term.
This week’s final round goes deep into Cohen’s conviction. Other topics include facial recognition technology, North Korea, Elon Musk and Tesla, Zimbabwe’s political state, and much more!
