About "Xi Jinping"
Get used to pronouncing Xi Jinping. His Communist party successfully abolished presidential term limits, making his heir to the office indefinite. References to Xi within the country has paralleled Mao Zedong, one of modern China’s fiercest dictators, even calling Xi “paramount leader.” He is not only the president of the Peoples Republic of China, but also the General Secretary of the entire Communist Party and chairman of the military. He is most definitely the most powerful Chinese leader since the gulags of Zedong, minus the corruption and terror.
For now, at least. Many are skeptical of the dominating power of the world power. Xi appears to be complying with UN sanctions on North Korea, but many are still demanding China play more fairly with intellectual property and ease up on military tensions in the South China Sea. With Xi’s new authoritarian status, one can only guess if we’re not heading back to the Mao Dynasty.
