About "Privacy Invasion"
Facebook is currently scrambling to address consumer concerns and backlash after the company’s misuse of customer information became apparent. Facebook confirmed sale of 50 million users records by a researcher to Cambridge Analytica, a data firm employed by Trump’s campaign, last week. Facebook is being condemned for not doing more to protect consumer information and make public potential abuse thereof.
The Facebook scandal is raising issues of information security and privacy, as consumers question their trust in social media companies and their ability to enforce and abide by privacy policies. While the policy may require proper use of information, ensuring leakages do not happen and information is not seized illicitly is next to impossible. Privacy is under more threat than ever due to the modern technology age. The question now becomes how important is privacy for individuals, and what do we value most?
This week’s final round goes deep into the valuation of privacy. Other topics include gun violence, trade policy and tariffs, the steel industry, self-driving cars and much more!
