About "Citizenship National Service (AFF)"
This case explores the underlying philosophy of compulsory national service as opposed to real-world impacts.
Keep your opponent focused on the value. If the judge finds the biggest issue to be the value of citizenship, things are tilting in your favor. You want everyone involved to be thinking about our obligation to the government and vice versa. Using commonly known maxims like “Freedom isn’t free” go a long way in taking common ground your audience already holds and turning it to your side of the debate.
This case is deeply philosophical, so use analogies as a tool to take complex concepts and relate them simply to your audience.
No matter what, remember that our citizenship isn’t just a one-sided obligation. Our government owes us something and we owe them something.
