https://vimeo.com/424308938 Hi all! We are finished with the course EASY ENTRY TO THE WORLD OF SPEECH AND DEBATE. Recall from what I said in Understanding Monument Campaigns, the course is actually the "pre-launch." The course expires 6/5/20 for good reason: we are...
Easy Entry to the World of Speech and Debate (VIDEO 1)
In the first video of this course, I share with you my humble beginnings nearly 30 years ago. I then take time to explain why I get so excited over speech and debate, and I dispel seven myths I hear often for reasons people give to resist involvement. I give an overview of the rest of the week.
Easy Entry to the World of Speech and Debate (VIDEO 2)
In the second video of this course, I explain two individual options you have to make: “school” and “league.” The first option is probably something you are already in, but it helps to identify as such. In the second I lay out your several league options available to you.
Easy Entry to the World of Speech and Debate (BONUS)
How valuable is speech and debate, anyway? We’ll be returning to EASY ENTRY, but for now this bonus video interviews Tabitha Jeub. Her future’s so bright…and she credits speech and debate for it! Watch this short interview, and then ask: “How far can I go with the skills learned in speech and debate?”
Easy Entry to the World of Speech and Debate (VIDEO 3)
In the previous video, I explained your “individual” options, but now I dig deeper into your “competitive” options. This brings you into the world of speech and debate events that are available to you throughout all leagues and organizations.
Easy Entry to the World of Speech and Debate (VIDEO 4)
You’ve made it to the end of EASY ENTRY! In this video, I explain the easiest pacing you can take to best prepare for your first tournament.

Welcome to the New Website!
The four levels of membership is brand new to Monument this year, essentially including two new levels (an entry level and an affiliate level). Here they are, listed with the three main benefits of each.
Keys to Speech & Debate Success (VIDEO 1)
This video covers the first-and-foremost key to speech and debate success: the “foundational” key. As the name suggests, this lays the foundation for a successful speech and debate competitive season.
Keys to Speech & Debate Success (VIDEO 2)
The second Key to speech and debate success is the “practical” key — two extremely useful methodologies that have helped my students rise to the top of the room in competitions, even national championships.
Keys to Speech & Debate Success (VIDEO 3)
Moving from “structure” to “strategy,” Mr. Jeub explains the pedagogical science behind modeling. When speakers and debaters imitate the champs, they become champions themselves.
Keys to Speech & Debate Success (VIDEO 4)
You have the foundation laid, the practical structure set, and the strategies of champions roaring in your mind…you’re on your way to speech and debate success!

As you go through the policy debate round, after giving the 1AC all the way to the final rebuttal, there are different responsibilities for each and every speech. Open your flowsheet and mark down exactly what those responsibilities are.
Flowing Techniques
Coach Vaughan interviews his daughter Abigail on flowing techniques. She discusses the evolution of her flowing from novice, to overdoing it, to finding the sweet spot.
Flowing Lincoln-Douglas
This video is part of a larger 12-lesson course on Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Mr. Jeub teaches the structure of a typical LD debate round through understanding the flow. Once the flow is understood, so much of the entire debate round is understood.
